Heavy Rain Alert: 10 Himachal Pradesh Districts Hit by Red Alert, Rail Line Shut

Monsoon fury hits HP as 10 districts face heavy rainfall

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for 10 districts in Himachal Pradesh, warning of heavy rainfall and flash flooding. The state is reeling under the impact of monsoon fury, with authorities forced to shut down the rail line in several areas.

Flash Flood Warnings Issued

A low-pressure system over the region is responsible for the heavy rainfall, which is expected to continue for the next 24 hours. The IMD has issued flash flood warnings for eight districts: Mandi, Kullu, Shimla, Solan, Una, Hamirpur, Kangra, and Chamba. These districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall, with localized areas receiving over 100 mm of rain in the next 24 hours.

Rail Line Shut for Safety

The Indian Railways has shut down the rail line in several areas to prevent any untoward incidents. The Railways have suspended services between Chandigarh and Shimla, as well as between Pathankot and Jammu, due to the heavy rainfall and threat of landslides. The Railways has advised passengers to check the status of their trains before embarking on their journey.

Disruption Expected

The heavy rainfall is likely to disrupt normal life in the state, with traffic expected to be severely affected. Authorities have advised people to stay indoors and avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. The state government has also set up relief camps for those affected by the rainfall.

The heavy rainfall has caused widespread damage, with trees uprooted, roads washed away, and electricity lines damaged. The state government has deployed teams to take stock of the situation and provide relief to those affected.

As the monsoon fury continues to rage on in Himachal Pradesh, our thoughts are with the people of the state affected by this heavy rainfall. We hope that the situation improves soon and normalcy is restored.
